A Message From Board Member, Penny Timmons…

As 2016 draws to a close, many of us are looking with varying degrees of trepidation to what 2017 will bring. While the future is filled with uncertainty, one thing I am certain about is that The Relational Center brings hope. January 2017 will mark the beginning of my 10th year of involvement with TRC and I can honestly say that our work has never been more important or more needed.

Not only is our society deeply divided, but a great number of our community members are also marginalized and socially isolated. Their safety and wellbeing is a priority for us. Now more than ever, we need to come together, expand our ability to empathize with one another, and work collaboratively to ensure–not just our personal wellbeing–but the wellbeing of all members of our communities.

Through the years, I have had many roles at TRC–from trainee counselor to trainer, from janitor to board member. Each of these roles has been an opportunity for personal growth and learning for me. My life has been touched and changed for the better by everyone who trained me, all those who trained with me, and by those I now have the pleasure of training. I have also been deeply touched and changed by the members I have had the honor of counseling and everyone who has been a part of the Civic Engagement program. The Relational Center isn’t just about values and missions. The Relational Center is about people. It’s about healing and creating the kinds of relationships and communities that allow us to thrive. The Relational Center is about connection and belonging, care and concern for our fellow humans. It’s about bringing people together, building bridges, overcoming differences and working together to solve problems. It’s about our collective wellbeing. Again, it’s about people.

I am truly grateful to be a part of this magnificent community and I hope you will join me in supporting TRC so we can continue to provide hope and wellbeing in 2017. Our work feels more urgent now than ever. Your gift of any amount will help us continue to provide cutting-edge counseling services, a variety of health and wellness activities, civic engagement, leadership development and so much more to promote the wellbeing of our members. If this feels important to you, please give today. We can’t do it without you.

Thank you so much for your continued support!

Very Truly Yours,
Penny Timmons
